I am an artist and teacher. I have a wonderful life and wish I didn't have to sleep because there is too much to do. "Drink coffee, you can sleep when you're dead." -David

Robert Goldman   Robert Goldman

In 1993, after twenty-five successful years in San Diego, Robert and his wife moved to Tucson, Arizona. Although the transition from ocean to desert was challenging at first, he has adjusted.  In addition to painting, he contributes to the Tucson art community through teaching and working as a Tucson Museum of Art docent.  He is a founding member of the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society (TPAPS).

Two of Robert’s landscape paintings were accepted into the top 50 and top 100 for the 2007 Paint America National Parks show.  Recently one of his paintings was accepted into the Oil Painters of America (OPA) Show in Santa Barbara, California.  He received two first places and one second place in the last three TPAPS competitions.  Robert also received a top award at the Lana International Water Media Competition in San Francisco, California, juried by Wayne Thiebaud.  In addition, his paintings are included in the recently published book, "Land of Sunlight - Contemporary Paintings of San Diego County" by James Lightner.  The Grand Canyon Association has recently purchased two paintings for it's permanent collection.

Robert's work was recently exhibited at the Kolb Studio at the Grand Canyon, and the St. George Art Museum in St. George, Utah.

Robert sells his work nationally and internationally and continues to study and develop as an artist. He has taken workshops with Ray Vinella, John Asaro, Wolf Kahn, Wayne Thiebaud, Jove Wang, Matt Smith, Phil Starke and Ray Roberts.

Robert is currently represented by the Max Gallery in Tucson, AZ, and the Windrush Gallery in Sedona, AZ.

The process of putting paint down on canvas and seeing it through to the end and making somebody smile, this is the ultimate reward.  The paintings of animals I create are my legacy, they are my children, I want them to bring happiness wherever they can.  My art is not so much about beauty, but about love, kindness and humour;  that is the goal.  I have found a voice through the eyes and souls of animals, and it speaks loudly.  I want you to look at my paintings, the brushwork, the color and texture, and feel something special!
